Western Esplanade

In brief

Construction value: £ 500 K

Completion: May 2014

Location: Hove, East Sussex

Once described by the Daily Telegraph as ‘the Malibu of the South Coast’, Western Esplanade is Hove’s very own ‘millionaires’ row’. An exclusive row of 14 beachfront houses, dating from the early 1900s, it counts Sir Paul McCartney, Norman ‘Fatboy Slim’ Cook, Adele, David Walliams and Nick Berry among its current and former residents.

We were contracted to undertake a major refurbishment of a property that had not been touched for many, many years. In the end, however, it turned out be virtually a complete rebuild, involving radical structural alterations to open up the ground floor to the full width of the plot. On the south side of the house, we installed full-width, floor-to-ceiling double glazing, providing spectacular sea views, and making this property truly one-of-a-kind.
